dERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning at The Rose Spa Of Lake Mary can take your aesthetic skin treatments to a new level. Dermaplaning is an innovative facial exfoliation technique that manually purges the surface of the skin.

DERMAPLANING AT THE ROSE SPA OF LAKE MARY

Dermaplaning is a noninvasive treatment that can be performed in our office in a short amount of time. This is a manual exfoliation technique that involves the careful scraping of your skin’s surface with a facial blade. Your aesthetician will scrape the treatment area many times and focus on the very top layer of skin. The purpose of the treatment is to gently scrape away damaged skin cells and “peach fuzz” hair for smoother, healthier-looking skin.

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplane is a highly efficient, safe, physical exfoliation procedure used to clear away dry, dead, superfluous skin layers and facial hair. This clinical procedure is performed by a medical skin care specialist trained in the use of a modified surgical blade designed specifically for this procedure. This exfoliation treatment immediately diminishes the appearance of dry, fine lines that are evident on aging skin. Dermaplaning also increases the rate of absorption of pharmaceuticals and skincare products by removing dead skin cells that are functioning only as a barrier and not as protection. Once the dry, hardened surface cells are removed, skin once again has a healthier, more glowing appearance.

OUR DERMAPLANING PROCESS

During a dermaplaning treatment session at The Rose Spa Of Lake Mary, the skin is prepped with a special cleanser or serum to loosen dead skin cells and allow for deeper exfoliation. A small handheld blade is used to make delicate strokes in the opposite direction of hair growth. This painlessly skims off the surface layers of the skin and removes the baby hair.

After the entire face has been shaved, a hydrating moisturizer or sunscreen is applied to the skin to lock in moisture. In some cases, dermaplaning is followed up by a chemical peel or a laser treatment for more dramatic results. The dermaplaning preps the skin for the laser or chemical peel, which offers even greater exfoliating powers. Dermaplaning can take as little as 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
